The Ben
Early in 2009, we were tasked with making a promotional DVD for The Ben with just three weeks to turn around from brief to broadcast.
The BEN is the Benevolent Society for the Scottish Licensed Trade. Whether it’s providing a pension, a roof over someone’s head, financial assistance to help them get back on their feet or simply extending the hand of friendship, together the charity helps make life easier for people who have worked, or still work, in the licensed trade.
The production, highlighting how just a small amount of cash and support each month can make a big difference to those in need, received its premiere at The Ben Annual Dinner on 5th February 2009 at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow. Following our initial meeting with the client in mid January 2009, we were able to write a script for the film, arrange filming with interviewees on location, film and edit and duplicate master copies of both the DVD and also produce Flash video files for The Ben website. As a result, this seven minute film was completed within three weeks of the commission being awarded.
