The Broadcasting Business

Background

Founding Directors Bill McFarlan and Alan Douglas have been passing on their skills since 1989 when they formed the company.

At the time they were both presenters of BBC Scotland’s flagship news programme Reporting Scotland and saw at first hand how nervous, unprepared and intimidated many people were when they had to face a TV camera.

They were among the first in the country to devise media training sessions – explaining how the media works and how to work with it….as well as practising the skills in front of a camera and in a radio studio.

At the BBC they worked alongside one of the best-known faces of TV news in Scotland, Viv Lumsden, who is now married to Alan. She is involved in many of the company’s projects.

From the Media Centre in Glasgow they head up a team of specialists to provide support for companies across the UK, Europe and further afield.
